The only life there is, is in Christ (click here to know why). Even if we don’t know it, we are inextricably linked in relationship with the Owner of the universe.
When our eyes are opened to that fact, if we yield to Him as King we begin to experience what it means to be a child of God for the rest of eternity. We start sharing Jesus’ loving intimacy with the Father by the Holy Spirit. His love starts flowing through us to bring wholeness to our family, work, church, nation and world.
Spirit, soul and body – and the two kinds of knowledge
Our spirit starts communicating with God’s Spirit. Our body continues to communicate with the material world through our five senses. Our soul, which consists of our mind, will and emotions, can better interpret sense knowledge in the light of spiritual knowledge as illustrated in the animated diagram (click here to view).
Thus, while on earth our existence has spiritual, intellectual, emotional and material dimensions. Great thinkers who used the bible’s spiritual knowledge as their presuppositions, built the demanding intellectual processes that we call science to unlock the secrets of the material realm.
In the even more demanding pursuit of answers to life’s five biggest questions, the efforts of humanity’s best and brightest have shown that our intellect on its own is not up to the task. Rationalism’s history reveals that attempts to do so have had disastrously brutalising effects on communities.
