Of course, not all academics endorsed the drug route to ‘reality.’ So another desperate attempt to find meaning outside of both reason and divine revelation was born – postmodernism. It too sprang from disillusionment with rationalism.
Postmodernism replaces the idea of objective truth with ‘many truths’ to be discovered in ‘cultural narratives.’ It is the foundation of multiculturalism. It’s OK according to postmodernism when my ‘truth’ contradicts your ‘truth’, because ‘truth’ – so they say – is relative to culture and there is no absolute truth.
The dominant cultural narrative of humanist academics is neo-Darwinian evolution. We will deal with recent findings of microbiology and information science that provide a superior theory of origins when we consider Cosmology. It is enough to note here that evolution’s militant defenders cling on to it to justify their rejection of biblical presuppositions as a basis for their epistemology (their way of “knowing” things with some level of confidence).
