Every worldview has five parts. Academics give each part a complicated name, which appears in brackets below for those who want to do some research of their own. The five parts of a worldview are illustrated in this diagram:
- what we believe about how to know things with confidence (epistemology)
- what we believe about the origin and structure of the universe (cosmology)
- what we believe about the nature of existence (ontology)
- what we believe about design and purpose in the universe (teleology)
- our values (axiology), which if we are logical, will derive from the first four
