Our worldview is like a ‘pair of glasses’ through which we view and interpret everything we encounter in life. Our ‘glasses’ will distort the way things appear if the various parts of our worldview contradict each other.
To avoid becoming confused by such distortion, our values should be able to be derived from the other four parts of our worldview using reason. Likewise, our morality should be able to be derived from our values.
As we shall see, however, the adherents of the worldview that takes pride in relying solely on reason, quickly forsake cool reason when it comes to public statements about their values.
